Praying for the World Right Here in Montgomery

350 students from over 50 countries were registered through the Montgomery Baptist Association Conversational English School this past school year. The gospel was shared in many different ways through classes, visits, outings and one on one contact.

A student mentioned to a teacher recently : "Does God really exist? ...If you believe what is true, it goes against everything I was taught.....Will you pray for me? When people come to the United States, they WATCH our culture. They ask question...s. Are you ready to answer this students questions?

Will you pray for people in the Greater Montgomery area from over 50 countries who are here long term and short term? The world is HERE in our area. We have an obligation as followers of Christ to PRAY for those from other places that they will know the Love of Christ and will HEAR the Good News of God.

Prayer points this week:
1. Pray for English Classes ALL OVER the River Region where the Good News is being SHOWN And SHARED with students.
2. Pray for the students to be open and receptive to the Gospel.
3. Pray for teachers and volunteers who share the love of God with those students. Pray that they will be bold in their love.
4. Pray for Christian churches to be a beacon of light and hope to those who are from another country. Many are here to seek refuge from war torn areas and have experienced things that none of us can even fathom. God has brought them here for a purpose.
5. Pray for ourselves and ALL followers of Christ, that we will be open to sharing that GOOD NEWS that we ourselves have received.

Leviticus 19:33-34 “When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God".

Be A Light to the World

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven".

Questions to Ponder in Time Alone:

1. Are we being the Light Of Christ in our actions?
2. Are you letting God's light shine through your lives at work, at home and with those who do not have a relationship with Christ?
3. Is your church being a beacon of light and hope for the Greater Montgomery area?

Great questions to ponder this week as we "Shine the Light" on the Greater Montgomery area.

Pray for the city to which He has us in right now. There is HOPE in Christ. Look beyond what you see going on in the news and remember that God is the Victor. We CAN make a difference in the way Montgomery SEES Christ through our actions, our thoughts and our love.

Praying for Our Schools

School will be out soon. Many are graduating from high school, making transitions from elementary to middle and from middle to high school. Life keeps moving for everyone and change is hard. Let's not forget to pray for those kids, their teachers and administrators...

1. Praying for all kids in the Greater Montgomery area as they transition after school is out to summer break.
2. Praying for the many kids who depend on eating breakfast and lunch at school each day. (there are ways you can help fill the gap this summer). Just ask!
3. Praying for teachers as they are doing end of the year reports, IEP's, etc.
4. Praying for all teachers to be reminded to be the very best they can be...because the way you teach DOES influence your students. (read scripture below)..
5. Praying for our community, that we will step up and get involved with our schools so that they can be the best ever!

Luke 6:40 “The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.”

Mothers Day in the River Region

Proverbs 14:1 "The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down".

Praying for all mothers in the River Region today....no matter what their backgrounds....rich, poor or in between, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, it does not matter. The Bible speaks of how important mothers are in the lives of humanity. In our area, many mothers are beaten down, overworked, etc. How can we, as followers of Christ, lift up mothers in our area?

The five areas of need identified by the Montgomery Baptist Association in 2008 were crime, racism, poverty, schools and consumerism. ALL of theses areas of concern affect mothers here in the River Region in many ways.

Pray this week for each of these areas and ponder how these areas of concern in the Greater Montgomery area cause mothers to have heartache, pain and grief.
Pray for women in our area who are mothers.
Pray for wisdom, guidance and provision for each of them.
