I am reminded of one of my favorite songs by Kyle Matthews, a Christian artist/songwriter. I think one of his songs is very appropriate for how we go about things here in Greater Montgomery as followers of Christ.
I want to hold just the chorus up against Matthew 25 as we go about living in the Greater Montgomery. IT IS NOT ABOUT JUST DOING WHAT MATTHEW 25 SAYS TO DO. IT is about HOW we do it, our motives and how we treat people. The way we treat people shows our TRUE heart. As followers of Christ, we HAVE to check our hearts all the time. I do. Every day in fact. The way we treat people, current issues, etc MATTERS!! It is the testimony of who we really are.
"The way we go about it matters,
It's the testimony of the heart.
Yes, the way we go about it matters,
It's the proof of who we really are". Kyle D. Matthews
Matthew 25;34-40 "Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.
For I was hungry, and you fed me. THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS.I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS.
I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS.
I was naked, and you gave me clothing. THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS. I was sick, and you cared for me. THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS. I was in prison, and you visited me.THE WAY YOU GO ABOUT IT MATTERS.
“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you? “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[f] you were doing it to me!’ IT'S THE TESTIMONY OF YOUR HEART. IT'S THE PROOF OF WHO WE REALLY ARE!
Lord, help each of us who reads this post today remember that the way we do things matters. It IS the testimony of our heart condition. Help us to remember that the WAY we approach others around us is important to you!
Here is a snippet of the song I just quoted.

Crime in Montgomery............again!
CRIME:
Crime statistics seem to be going up in the Greater Montgomery area. Have you noticed? I haven't gotten the latest stats but it sure seems that way watching the news lately!
Are we praying for heart change y'all? Only with heart change comes life change, choice changes, etc. Crime will not go down unless people's hearts change.

Are we investing in people that need the Lord?
Matthew 10:5-8 gives a breakdown of who we need to be reaching for Christ. Here is what it says from The Message:
Pray this week that all followers of Christ in the Greater Montgomery
area be actively seeking ways to reach people. There is no time like the
present to begin sharing what God has done in your life.

Matthew 10:5-8 gives a breakdown of who we need to be reaching for Christ. Here is what it says from The Message:
Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this charge:
“Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers.
And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy.
1. Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood.
2. Tell them that the kingdom is here.
3. Bring health to the sick.
4.Raise the dead.
5.Touch the untouchables.
6.Kick out the demons.

Are You A Pew Potato or Are You On Mission?
At the Montgomery Baptist Association Ministers Conference today, we
heard from two church planters in our area. Steve Walters(The Church at
Pike Road) and Paul Gourdine(Engaged Christian Church). They are
working to reach people who either have been disenfranchised from church
or have never been. They are building missional communities. If you
join this group of believers, you are a missionary to the Greater
Montgomery area. One person in the meeting said, " No pew potatoes"
and that is exactly right! Everyone who follows Christ should never be a
"pew potato". Everyone should be "on mission" in their daily lives.
That is what this prayer page is for. We pray about our own hearts being
changed and seeing people through God's eyes, not our own.
What about you? Are you a "pew potato" or are you "on mission" where you work, live and/or go to school.
Here are some prayer requests for our beloved Greater Montgomery Area.
1. Pray for these church plants and others around the Greater Montgomery area who are working to bring people to Christ and sometimes doing it in tangible ways.
2. Pray for our established churches, that they will challenge each and every attender to be "on mission" in their daily lives.
3. Pray for ourselves, that we would be on mission and not just sit in a pew on a Sunday or Wednesday, that we would be actively living the gospel each day.
"You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you". John 15:16

Open the Eyes of Our Hearts Lord....in the Greater Montgomery Area
Let this be our prayer this week as we serve and work and go about our days in the Greater Montgomery area. Would you be willing to allow the Lord to let you see and respond to those around you with His eyes?
Experiment and see what happens...and don't ignore the promptings....Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord
"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,"
Ephesians 1:18
