Part 2 Schools

Sorry this weeks was delayed! I was out sick for 3 days with a bad cold. Back up and running!!

SCHOOLS Part 2
This week, pray for Montgomery Public School administrators, teachers and staff.
"The only way there will be change in our school system is if the community gets involved and serves our schools. We need the community." (from an MPS administrator at the Board of Education).
This includes our local churches.
Are you involved at our local schools? Is your church intentionally reaching out to your community school? If not, why not? MPS is begging our churches to participate.
Are you praying this week for the next school year?
If not, why not?

Challenge:
Be involved in your community's schools. Go meet the principal and pray with them. Pray over the classrooms. Pray outside the school. Pray for parents. Pray for the students.
Love our community schools.
Pray this verse over our schools this week...for all who work there and all who come through the doors.

Deuteronomy 6:7 “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”

Praying for Montgomery Schools

SCHOOLS
For the next 3 weeks, we will be praying for schools. Ask the Lord to show you how to invest in our local schools.

Galatians 6:2 :Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Yesterday, a colleague and I met with the Board of Education for MPS and just listened to what they had to say. There are four areas of need that they would love for Montgomery County churches to partner with them on. I will add a 5th.

1. Being a tutor/mentor with the public schools(after school).
2. Being a "buddy" for a kid at the school-going to eat lunch with them, praying for them, etc.
3. Backpack weekends-MPS sends home food for the weekends to help kids get through the weekends. They are focused on kids whose family deals with food insecurity.
4. Groups of Sunday schools, life groups, etc(7-8 people) to come the first two weeks of August and spruce up the grounds of our local schools. They provide what you need-churches provide the labor.
All of these would need to be coordinated with Tom Salter, Communications director for MPS. You can call MPS at 334-223-6100. He would love to hear from our local churches who will consider partnering with him.

Here is my 5th element.....
PRAYER TEAMS for each school. Would it not be helpful for a church or a group of individuals to "Adopt" a school and commit to praying for that school this next school year? Would you and your church consider that? I can help you come up with a plan if needed.

Are we bearing one another's burden's in our schools? Are we praying for our school system on a regular basis? Are we involved in our local schools-both public and private?

Prayer points this week:
1. Pray about how you and your church will be involved in our schools this year. You don't have to have a child in the school to be a part of it.
2. Pray for our churches to "Seek the welfare of the city" (Jeremiah 29:7....which includes our schools).
3. Pray for our hearts to be changed regarding our school system and praying for the core of our school system to be changed for the better.
4. Pray for acting Superintendent Dr. Eggleston as he works to redirect the focus of our school system in Montgomery. Pray for all private schools...because there are kids there who are hurting and broken as well.

"If you change a school, you change a child. "
