From Smal Things Comes Great Things......

I just returned from a 40th anniversary celebration of the ministry I worked at in NYC for 16 years. I was privileged to be able to serve at a place where they LOVE the city and KNOW God has not forsaken the city. I thought about Montgomery and realized that we need to have that same passion and love for THIS city every day! God loves the people of the Greater Montgomery area and He WANTS everyone to have the opportunity to respond to the Gospel. EVERYONE. We had this verse ...as the theme verse for our weekend of "looking back and looking forward". The overall theme was "From Small Things Comes Great Things". Small beginnings can bring great futures.

The verses were Zechariah 4:6-10. Here it is:
"Then he said to me, “This is what the Lord says to Zerubbabel: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 7 Nothing, not even a mighty mountain, will stand in Zerubbabel’s way; it will become a level plain before him! And when Zerubbabel sets the final stone of the Temple in place, the people will shout: ‘May God bless it! May God bless it!’[a]” 8 Then another message came to me from the Lord: 9 “Zerubbabel is the one who laid the foundation of this Temple, and he will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has sent me. 10 DO NOT DEPSISE THESE SMALL BEGINNINGS, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”

Are you wondering if the Lord needs GRAND opening style "beginnings" in order to make a difference? NO......"do not despise the small beginnings...the Lord REJOICES to see the work begin"....

Many of us think that those small contributions that we make don't mean anything...THEY DO TO THE LORD. Plugging away for 40 years, many people came to work and poured into the ministry there and many people have had significant life changes because of the "plugging away" even with limited resources.

Be encouraged today of you are out there "plugging away" in a ministry or as a follower of Christ. From small things, great things can come".

PLUG AWAY in praying for our city. God loves this city full of His creations. Don't be discouraged. The Lord is working through every thing that is done for Him.
